'Eye-Eye Captain' by Richard Riding
Yes, I well remember Tony Lawson. I also remember a most extraordinary scene that took place in the Wandsworth Studio canteen. Tony Lawson was working down there one day and come lunchtime he queued up at the counter to order his nosh. Unbeknown to him one of the canteen staff also had a funny eye, only her's was the opposite one to Tony's. When you think of it they must have never seen each other! When he ordered his Buffalo Bollocks and Owl Buttock Pie, or whatever the menu was that day, she picked up her ladel and went for him, calling him a cheeky beggar and everything else under the sun. He was stunned and asked her what the hell was the matter. She said, "I can't help my eye being this way, stop taking the piss", or words to that effect. He, of course, could have said exactly the same thing to her!
